Xeevr / Books and publishing

Three formats.
One manuscript.

Xeevr carries finished writing from a newsletter issue to a bound book: editorial development, design and typesetting, then printed and digital editions that keep their place in the archive.

A clothbound hardcover book standing upright under soft editorial light
Sewn and clothbound

Hardcover

A sewn binding for writing meant to stay on a shelf. Set in the typeface chosen for the edition, with a short colophon noting the issues the book grew out of.

A trade paperback book standing upright under soft editorial light
Printed on request

Trade paperback

The reading edition. Printed when a copy is ordered, so a title stays available long after its first run rather than going quietly out of print.

A slim e-reader standing upright under soft editorial light
EPUB and web reader

Digital edition

The same text as an EPUB file and a page you can open in a browser, linked back to the issues in the archive that the chapters began as.

01
Editorial

The question the book is really asking.

We read the manuscript the way a first-time reader would, then work through structure, argument and what each chapter is doing. Development notes come back in writing, and the revisions are yours to make.

02
Design

A page that gets out of the way.

Typesetting, cover and interior are chosen for the text rather than for a house style: a typeface that suits the voice, a measure that holds attention, and a cover that reads at thumbnail size and at arm's length.

03
Distribution

A title that keeps its address.

Every edition is listed with its own page, its formats and a route back to the issues it came from, so the book stays findable in the archive instead of disappearing after its first week.

Bring us a manuscript

A draft can become
an edition.

Tell us what you are writing, how far along it is and what you want the book to do for a reader. A note reaches the editorial desk privately, and we answer with questions before we answer with a decision.
